Micro/Nano-Satellites: Opportunities and Challenges

About author:C H E N X i a o q i a n (1975- ), is now the dean of College of Aerospace Science and Engineering (CASE), National University of Defense Technology (NUDT). He got his Ph.D of Aerospace Engineering NUDT in 2001. His major is satellite design and application. Since 2006, he has led a series of advanced research on Micro/Nano-satellites in NUDT. He is the Chief Designer of TianTuo-1 (TT-1), TianTuo-3 (TT-3) and TianYuan-1 (TY-1) satellites. All these satellites work very well on-orbit and have high impact in China. Meantime, his research has resulted in 177 journal and conference papers. He has also published 7 books and been authorized with 27 patents. He has received several notable awards at national and international levels, including the Chinese Youth Science & Technology Award (2016), the State Technological Invention Award (2015), the Technological Invention Award of Ministry of Education (2014).
Meanwhile, he is also the member of International Astronautical Federation (IAF), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and Acoustical Society of America (ASA) as well as the chair of Society of Astronautics in Hunan.
