This paper introduces a launch vehicle scheme for the new generation of cryogenic and quick-launch launch vehicle (LM-6). The main technical innovations of LM-6 launch vehicle include the capability of twenty satellites launched by one vehicle, high-pressure staged combustion cycle engine and oxygen tank self-pressurization, sandwich bulkhead tank with 200 K temperature difference, and 7-day quick-launch using the “three horizontals” test and launch mode with integral transportation and erection. The future development of the quick-launch launch vehicle is predicted based upon the need for vehicle mission coverage improvement, better response speed, and stronger market competiveness.

This paper reviewed the development of control technology in domestic and foreign launch vehicle (LV), and based on which, the key technologies of control system for Chinese heavy-lift launch vehicles were proposed. A dynamic on-line trajectory planning technique was discussed to meet the demand of guidance control under complex constraints, and model based identification and adaptive control technology was suggested to deal with the control problems caused by model uncertainty and disturbance, and an integrated avionics system based on high speed communication was put forward for module integration and distributed control, and FBG based real time flight control was also discussed. Moreover, other key technologies, such as wireless interconnection, wireless power transfer, and temporal and spatial partitioning operating system, are both briefly introduced for the application in control systems. These studies will lead to breakthroughs in autonomous flight control in LV, and provide technical support for more long-term deep space explorations.

Lightning is a typical example of an instantaneous random point source target. It has close connection with severe convective phenomena such as a thunderstorm, whose distribution, variation, position and forecasting can be acquired through lightning observation. In this paper, we discuss the way to achieve instantaneous lightning signal intensification and detection from geostationary orbit by using the differences between the lightning signal and the slowly changing background noise such as that of cloud, land and ocean, combining three methods, spectral filtering, spatial filtering and background noise, enabling removal between frames. After six months of operation in orbit, lightning within the coverage of the Geostationary Lightning Imager was effectively detected, strongly supporting the case for shorttime and real-time early warning, forecasting and tracking of severe convective phenomena in China.

FY-4 is the second generation of Chinese geostationary satellite for quantitative remote sensing meteorological application. The detection efficiency, spectral bands, spatial and time resolution have been greatly improved with respect to those of first generation, as well as the radiometric calibration and sensitivity. The combination of multichannel detection and vertical sounding was first realized on FY-4, because both the Advanced Geostationary Radiation Imager (AGRI) and Geostationary Interferometric Infrared Sounder (GIIRS) are on the same spacecraft. The main performance of the payloads including AGRI, GIIRS and Lightning Mapping Imager, and the spacecraft bus are presented, the performance being equivalent to the level of the third generation meteorological satellites in Europe and USA. The acquiring methods of remote sensing data including multichannel and high precision quantitative observing, imaging collection of the ground and cloud, vertical observation of atmospheric temperature and moisture, lightning imaging observation and space environment detection are shown. Several innovative technologies including high accuracy rotation angle detection and scanning control, high precision calibration, micro vibration suppression, unified reference of platform and payload and on-orbit measurement, real-time image navigation and registration on-orbit were applied in FY-4.

China’s aerospace industry is facing a major task of increasing the reform of aerospace management system and speeding up civil-military integration, which leads to an urgent demand for new aerospace think tank products.
Thankfully, with “information space” as the carrier, the “systems science” as the guidance, and QIAN Xuesen’s “metasynthetic wisdom system” as the core, QIAN Xuesen think tank provides the decision support for China to develop an aerospace knowledge economy and to continuously enhance the “space soft power”. In this paper, the framework of the meta-synthetic wisdom system guided by systems science is presented, the relationship between basic ideas of QIAN Xuesen think tank and meta-synthetic wisdom system is explained and the construction items of aerospace hall of the workshop for meta-synthetic engineering (aerospace HWMSE) are analyzed.
